For the first time in 30-year history of Biofach, the largest trade fair in the world specialized in organic products (organic or bio, as there is also called so), Romania was present with two collective booths, one made through the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Program, a project co-financed by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss contribution to the enlarged European Union and another, carried out by the Bio Romania Association. Both participations were supported by the export development programs organized by the Ministry of Business Environment Trade and Entrepreneurship. Along with the collective participation, many Romanian companies had individual booths financed by thier own buget. All together there were over 40 Romanian companies.

It should be noted that the Swiss contribution program insisted on some qualitative elements, namely the promotion of the processors, an approach to get products and product chains together, the promotion of export alliances in the form of clusters and cooperatives, the previous training of exhibitors through modules and other export trainings. Last but not least, the aspects of knowledge transfer and introduction of new managerial tools continued  also there, at the booth, in the presence of experts from the Export Business Centers, FIBL and Bio SWIS consultants, having both individual and collective meetings.

The Managerial tools, recently developed by FIBL, for the evaluation of the sustainability in the field of organic agriculture, were presented and well received by the exhibiting companies.

“The Romanian export of ecological products will be stimulated even more by this participation, focused on branding and processing but also on the contribution of research and innovation in the export activity. By attending the event, Spiru Haret University shows its involvement both in terms of innovative export and innovative product research. Moreover, we can say that at this fair were present for the first time 3 clusters exclusively of ecological products from Romania: Bio Danubius, Bio Concept Prahova Valey and Bio Nest. The fact that clusters and associations are getting closer one to another, the creation of Inter-Bio Association, that fights for the organization of product chains are elements that will have results we will see in the future ”said Assoc.Prof. Dr. Costin Lianu, President of INTER-BIO, General Manager of USH Pro Business.
